Product Description
The House of Staunton is proud to introduce one of the World's finest Plastic Chessmen - The Collector Series Plastic Chessmen. This set is based on our world famous 4.0" Collector design and is a VERY accurate reproduction. This heavily weighted set has been crafted to replicate the exquisite design and proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen, registered by Nathaniel Cook in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. The distinctive feature of this set is our Knight design, which is modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles) and are unsurpassed in beauty and craftsmanship.
These full tournament-sized Chessmen feature a 4.0" King. The set weighs an unbelievable 64 ounces and includes 4 Queens (the additional 2 Queens are not included in the weight calculation.) The design and feel of these Chessmen make them ideal for both Tournament and Rapid Play (Blitz) Chess. As with all House of Staunton Chessmen, they exemplify the perfect combination of beauty and functionality. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!
These Chessmen are new and include a House of Staunton corduroy drawstring bag. Each set consists of 34 Chessmen, 17 light and 17 dark (including the two additional Queens.)
